Latest news

March 2026

After a cold, wet, and windy winter period the summer season is approaching and April 1st marks the beginning of our new membership year.  We very much hope our existing members will be renewing their membership and if you are please can you do so by this date.  The easiest way to renew is on our on our website: Clubspark / Kenton Lawn Tennis Club / Membership Details.  We also have some great offers for new members - either indivuals (single adult annual membership for £100) and family offers - see details on the above link and scroll down to membership type 8a/8b/8c. Potential new members are also invited to come and join one of our thriving social tennis sessions (Sunday morning and Wednesday evenings) and try us out.

We are just completing our winter season, with the highlight being our Men’s National League team winning their division – congratulations to captain Lionel and team - and our Box League running until the end of March.  Summer league fixtures for our many teams (juniors, adults & vets) will be available shortly and the club tournament draws will take place at the start of May. We also have our Easter camps for juniors over the Easter holidays - see www.ajw-tennis.com for details.

Our social calendar got off to a dramatic and successful start with our recent Traitors event hosted by Shivani & Harry, and we are now planning a multi-sports social event on Bank Holiday Monday, May 4th.

Looking ahead, 2027 will be Kenton Tennis Club’s hundredth year and we would like to celebrate this in style.  Plans are in formulation, but we have earmarked the last weekend in June (26/6/27-27/6/27) for the big event to which current and old members will be invited.

November 2025

We recently held the tennis club AGM and the committee was elected for the coming year, with one significant change.

After a very successful 15 years as junior development officer Helen has stepped down.  She has been instrumental in growing our junior section to over 100 members and, as a relatively small club, punching way above our weight in terms of junior teams competing in the Middlesex League.  Most of all she has been a great welcoming presence for children and parents alike.  A huge thank you to Helen!  The good news is she will remain on the committee to support in other aspects of running the club, including starting the planning for our centenary in 2027.

The second piece of good news is that Nick has agreed has to take over the junior officer role to develop the next generation, a few of which are his offspring!  There’s lots to cover and he’ll need the support of parents and others to keep things going so please volunteer if you can. In order to create time to do the new role Nick is stepping down after 15 years as Men’s first team captain during which our team has remained in the upper divisions of Middlesex tennis. One of the hallmarks of Nick’s captaincy has been giving youth a chance to shine, and it’s great to see that the majority of our Division 1 team is made up of players that have come through our junior ranks including Nick himself.

A big thank you also to Stephy who whilst not currently on the committee has been driving our social media presence in recent years.  She’s stopping to focus on her studies.  We need new blood to fill this void, if you can help please let one of the committee know.

October 2025

Finals day, held on Saturday 13th September, was a hectic and fun day with 24 different finals being played (5 main tournament, 5 veterans and 14 junior age group matches) followed by our presentation evening and social that carried on until midnight.  Big thank you to all the organisers, umpires, caterers and everyone else that helped.  Congratulations to all our winners, including our main tournament winners Martina (Ladies Singles) for the second year in a row, Samir as a first-time winner of the Men’s singles, Alison & Janette (Ladies Doubles), Dhruv & Reece (Men’s Doubles) and Sam & Martina (Mixed Doubles).

Silverware aside, we’ve had an excellent season recruiting lots of wonderful new members and our Wednesday and Sunday social tennis sessions are thriving.  With over 100 junior members and the successful reintroduction of a Friday daytime session there is something for all ages.  Head coach Andrew and his team continue to offer a popular term time programme and holiday camps.

The advent of winter is no excuse to stop playing!  Our Kenton Winter League has restarted, involving various local clubs, and we have just launched a new 5 division Singles Box League to be played between October and March.

Off the courts our Quiz and Traitors nights have been well supported and we are now planning an International Evening on November 8th with members from 11 different countries taking tables.

Our annual AGM takes place on Wednesday 19th November at 8.30pm in the Old Bar which is an opportunity for members to have their say on how the club is run and to elect a committee for 2026.

Welcome to Kenton Lawn Tennis Club
