October news

October update from Kings Cliffe Tennis

We have three flood lit courts at KC Active which are available for everyone to use, all year round. Rackets and balls are available to borrow at the courts.

Courts are open and free for everyone to use until 31st October, when there will be a minimal charge to use the courts. This is to cover running costs and ensure we can subsidise youth tennis.

Courts access

The courts are currently open at all times and free to use and this will remain until the end of the October Half Term (31st October).

From 31st October there will be a numbered padlock with a code which is changed regularly. To access the courts there will be three options:

  1. Join Kings Cliffe Tennis, receive the padlock code and play for free, whenever the courts are available.
  2. Book the courts at £4 per hour. When you make the booking (in person or through a new online booking system) you will be advised of the padlock code.
  3. Play Park Tennis on Saturday 10-11.30am or Tuesday 6pm - 8pm. Free and open to anyone

The flood lights are operated by tokens which cost £2/hour and tokens are available from the Cross Keys, Kings Cliffe Shopper and the Kings Cliffe Ex Servicemen's Club. Everyone who plays at night will need to buy their own tokens.

Kings Cliffe Tennis membership - how much does it cost?

Winter membership (to 31st March 2017) is just £26 and allows one adult to use the courts as often as they want. The adult, or their children under 16 years, will also be able to take part in the R2R coaching sessions. (see information in this newsletter).

For all organised tennis activities (with the exception of Park Tennis) participants (or their parents) are expected to have joined Kings Cliffe Tennis or will be required to pay an additional fee of £2 each time.

Park Tennis co-ordinators’ training, Sunday 16th October

We need volunteers to help coordinate Park Tennis and there will be a training course on Sunday 16th October from 3.00pm – 6.00pm at KC Active.  This will include guidance on registering, organising activity, health and safety risk assessment requirements as well as a practical session introducing various games that can be played to get everyone involved and active (champions, ladders).  If you can help, please come and join us on the 16th October.

Please reply to this email if of interest.

Kings Cliffe Tennis

To coordinate the development of tennis at KC Active, a group of volunteers has come together consisting of me, Richard Luff, Lucy Cardew, Anna Meadows, Anna Armitage, Charlotte Pollard and Robert Ding.   If you have any ideas you would like to contribute, or issues to raise, please contact any one of these people – if you would like to join us, please do get in touch.

I hope that this update is of interest and look forward to you joining Kings Cliffe Tennis and seeing you up on the courts.
