KINGSLEY TENNIS CLUB - SAFEGUARDING POLICY

The Kingsley Tennis Club Welfare Officer

Role Purpose

The Welfare Officer is a member of the Kingsley Tennis Club (“the club”) committee and this role is pivotal to the promotion of safety and well-being within the club and to ensuring that children, young people and adults at risk are able to participate in tennis in a fun, safe and inclusive environment. The Welfare Officer is available to all members of the club and will deal with any situation surrounding the safety and well-being of members whilst paying particular attention to those most vulnerable such as: children, young people, children with disabilities and adults known to be at risk.

 

Role and Responsibilities:

  1. Respond to any concerns or issues that arise for children, young people and adults at risk in a confidential and sensitive manner.
  2. Contact the LTA Safeguarding Team to discuss any concerns that have been raised where you do not feel able to adequately manage the situation.
  3. Contact Children’s Social Care and the Police if a child is at immediate and significant risk of harm.
  4. Contact Children’s Social Care and the Police if an adult is at immediate and significant risk of harm.
  5. Record any concerns reported in relation to children, young people and adults at risk on the Well-Being Form and forward to the LTA Safeguarding Team for reference or for the matter to be escalated.
  6. Ensure all club members are aware of their duty of care towards children, young people and adults at risk, which means ensuring their safety and well-being. Furthermore, ensure that all KNVI Friends receive a copy of the Safeguarding Policy and that it is on display in the Kingsley & Newton Village Institute.
  7. Support and assist the club to fulfil its responsibilities when organising activities for children, young people and adults at risk.
  8. Encourage those in a position of trust and authority to attend LTA Safeguarding, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Training.
  9. Maintain quarterly contact with the LTA Safeguarding Team for support and reading email updates that the team sends.

RULE ON THE SUPERVISION OF CHILDREN AT KINGSLEY TENNIS CLUB

Children under the age of 11 must be supervised by their parent/carer when at Kingsley Tennis Club and not participating in a session where there are DBS checked coaches/supervisors in place e.g. coaching lessons or tennis camps.
