Court Update

New Court Update

The work on the construction of the new courts is progressing well and is on track to be completed to the original schedule. Today has seen the completion of the laying of the new tarmac and tomorrow the team will start to lay the new playing surface.  If the weather continues to be kind it is hoped that the playing surface will be laid by the end of October. The final pieces of work to be completed are the laying of the path between the courts and the bowling green, the laying of a new path from the clubhouse to the court entrance, and the installation of a fence behind the new retaining wall. The new fence will be the same height as the rest of the fencing so that the courts will be enclosed on all four sides; this will reduce the risk of tennis balls ending up on the bowling green, which is great news for both parties. The new access path to Dupplin Road will be installed in early 2025 when the planning application process is completed, with progress dependent on weather conditions. The current plan is for the courts to be handed back to the Club by Friday 8th November.

From a financial point of view, we remain on budget and are just waiting for our last application for funding to be confirmed from the Perth Common Good Fund whose next meeting is not until November 25th.   We met last week with the Depute Provost to talk through how the work is progressing and how the money will be used to ensure full disabled access to the courts and the clubhouse.

Awards and Quiz Night

On Saturday 9th November the Club will be holding its first Awards and Quiz Night in Kinnoull Bowling Club. The night is already sold out with 18 teams of four confirmed. The aim of the night is to recognise the superb on-court performances by players and teams across the Club in 2024 and to raise money which will go directly towards the cost of the court project.  Our target for the night is to raise £2,000.

I am sure you will all agree that these are exciting times for the Club and the new improved facilities will provide us with the opportunity to grow our membership numbers in the year ahead across all age groups at the same time as our Men’s First Team enters the top leagues in Tayside.

Finally, the Committee members would like to sincerely thank all our members for their patience and support during the last couple of months as the new courts have been constructed.
