Men's Singles Tournament 2022

Friday 10th June saw the men of LWTC gather to determine the 2022 Men’s Champion. A great friendly evening’s competitive tennis with some gripping games, impressive rallies and well-earned beers.

In the final eight Stobart progressed after a hard-fought battle with Fleet whilst Anderson overcame Hunt snr. In the other half of the draw “new man” Brown, who had impressed in the early rounds, moved through beating Waltho with 2021 champion Broadhurst completing the semi’s quartet after overcoming Smith.

A tight semi saw Brown move into the final, despite Broadhurst’s determination to retain the trophy, to face Anderson who proved too strong for Stobart.

In a thrilling late-evening final, Brown took a commanding lead and looked on course to take the title at the first attempt. But Anderson dug deep to draw back level and take it at the wire to lift the trophy for a second time.

Teenager Charlie Hunt won the Plate competition, eyeing the trophy in a future year.
