Sunday 7th July 2024, 1.30pm

The American Tournament returns for 2024 on Sunday 7th July at 1:30pm. A fun day for all levels of experience, but numbers are limited so please book early!  (It’s always nice to come along on the day, but without guaranteed numbers we cannot run the event.  Please do book!)

Please add your name to the list on the noticeboard at the club and give £5 to Di, behind the bar.

Timings are:

13:30 Prompt start R1, R2, R3 (please arrive early!)
14:30 Short break for Hot dogs and drinks
16:30 Final
17:00 Bar open and Prizes

Rules

1. Each ‘match’ will be of about 15-20 minutes duration, with a change of ends every 4 games
2. There is no deuce. At 40-40 it is sudden death and whoever wins the next point wins the game
3. 1 point is scored for every game won
4. When the whistle sounds, the pair in the lead during the current game wins that game. Should the score be level, e.g. 30-30, the pair who won the last point takes the game.
5. Should the games be equal when the whistle sounds, the pair who won the last game are nominated the winners
6. At the end of the ‘match’ complete your score sheet and remember to get it signed by your opponents! Then move court as follows:

Winners
Split the pairing
Move up a court, e.g. from court 3 to court 2.

Losers
Split the pairing
Stay on the same court

The final match will be between 2 pairs made up of the top scoring gentleman with the second best scoring lady and vice-versa.
