Nigel Mann Helps GB win Columbus Cup

GB won the Columbus Cup in Washington last week with MLTC Head Coach Nigel Mann playing an important role in both the semi final against France and the final against USA. The tournament was held at the Columbia Country Club (former President Obama plays at CCC). In the semi final Nigel partnering Chris Hearn beat the French pair taking the important rubber to win the match and put GB in the final against the No 1 seed USA.

With the final poised at 2-2 matches all after the singles, Nigel and Chris playing the doubles having lost the 1st set on a tie break (7-9) won the 2nd set to claim a vital set. Unfortunately they lost the Champ Tie Break 10-7 but that set ensured GB had a championship tie break shoot out which they won to take the Columbus Trophy - the first GB win in 20 years.

Following the Columbia Cup, Nigel visited the US Open on the Monday & Tuesday and also took the opportunity to meet up with ex member Athina Schlepphorst who is now training in New York and Florida.
