MLTC Regulations
1. Club Play
From 1st April until 30th September, Club Play will take place from 6.00 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, 4.00 p.m. on Friday afternoons and 2.00 pm on Saturday afternoons. From 1st October until 31st March, Club Play will take place from 4.00 p.m. on Friday afternoons and 2.00 pm on Saturday afternoons only.
Club Play shall be conducted using the board system. The first member wishing to play shall place their name tag at the top of the board and members arriving subsequently shall place their names below. The member whose name tag is at the top of the board shall select three from no more than the next six players. The four name tags shall be placed on the first available court. On completion of their set, the player shall remove their name tags from the order of play slot and replace them on the board beneath any other tags already on the board, winners first.
Club Play is always a Doubles match and shall consist of one short set, with a standard tie-break at 5:5 if necessary.
New tennis balls will be provided by the Club from 1st April until 30th September only.
2. Coaching
The Club shall not be used for coaching without the prior approval of the Management Committee.
Coaches are responsible for ensuring that they are adequately insured.
Court and coaching fees will be decided by the Management Committee.
3. Courts
A booking system is in place for individual courts.
Summer and Winter League matches have precedence in accordance with the published programme.
The University of Plymouth has exclusive use of all 4 hard courts on Wednesdays and the use of 2 hard courts on Sundays from midday until 4 p.m.
Doubles play only on the grass courts due to wear and tear.
The Management Committee may restrict play on any court at any time.
Tennis is the only activity permitted on the courts.
4. Visitors
The name of the visitor shall be entered in the Visitor’s book and the prescribed fee (currently £4.00) paid into the box provided in the Bar door, before going on court.
No visitor may play tennis at the Club on more than three occasions in one year, except with the permission of the Management Committee.
5. General
Members may hold clubhouse keys at the discretion of the Management Committee.
The Club takes no responsibility for personal items left in the club premises.
Appropriate tennis clothing and footwear shall be worn on court at all times.
Floodlights switch off automatically at 10.00 p.m. and are not permitted on Sunday.
The nets shall not be lowered by players leaving the courts at the end of play.
The last person to leave the Club is to ensure that the gate is closed securely.
No private notices are to be appended to the Club noticeboards without prior approval from the Management Committee.
