The club is ororganising a Village festival on Saturday 22nd June with the support of Liss Schools PTA. It will showcase local sports clubs, societies and hobby groups and will be followed by a club tournament and Torchlight Tennis Marathon with Ben Marshall playing throughout the night.
The aim will be to provide an event for the village and to raise some funds to complete the refurbishment of the club room in the Pavilion and to encourage participation and new members.
The festival will run from 1-5pm and focus on all the Clubs, Societies and hobby groups in and around the the village. Particpating clubs will be showcasing their club providing information about the group and allowing visitors the chance to have a go for free. The tennis club for example will open the courts, set up some games and skill stations and provide an afternoon of free coaching.
Alongside the actvities provided by the clubs and groups, the tennis Club and Liss school's PTA will be organising stalls and games traditional to a village fete. The hope is for there to be range of free and paid for activities such that there is something of interest for every age, ability and demographic.
The festival will be followed at 6pm by the start of a 12-hour Torchlight Tennis Marathon by Ben Marshall. The marathon will commence with a Club tournament for all to join in, with Ben carrying on afterwards (with hitting partners) until 6am on Sunday morning.
The club is aleady in contact with many local clubs, organisations and businesses - but we will still need the help of members in specific areas. We would really like your support and you can see how you can help here.
