Junior Selection Criteria
Norfolk Tennis is committed to supporting players aged 8-18 through additional training and development opportunities as part of their competitive journey.
Initial nomination for County Training may come from:
- Club coaches — for players actively competing or U8 players ready to compete
- County coaches — following performance in events
All nominations should be sent to: norfolkperformance@norfolktennis.org
Squad Eligibility & Expectations
To remain eligible for selection and training, players must:
- Maintain regular club coaching
- Attend weekly or termly county sessions consistently
- Compete regularly and maintain a competitive World Tennis Number (WTN)
- Show positive attitude and commitment in training
- Where possible, supplement training with Strength & Conditioning
Team Selection Process
Selections will consider:
- WTN/ranking (or recent form for U10)
- Recent match performance
- Attitude and application during training
Where players are evenly matched, the County Captain’s decision is final and will reflect the goal of selecting the best team for the competition.
Note: Participation in the County Training Programme is not a requirement for County Cup selection. Norfolk Tennis supports all competitive players, regardless of training setting.
