Inside Story - The Cringleford Clubhouse

The Project Involved:

Clubhouse with accessible toilet

Gate entry system to enable Pay and Play

Internal accessible footpath to link up all courts ( there were previously three different entrance gates)

The project was completed at the end of December following an intense 12 months of activity after the 2023 AGM when members voted to proceed with a feasibility study for the project. This was presented to members in the Spring of 2024 who voted overwhelmingly to proceed with the project. Further to submission of a planning application in April 2024 it was almost six months before this was granted ( following a number of revisions and amendments to meet planning requirements and still achieve our budget ) allowing work to start in September 2024.

We were extremely fortune to be offered a special deal on the Clubhouse by Superior Garden Buildings which resulted in a very high specification being achieved with a fully insulated and heated building. A major part of the project involved a connection to the public sewer to allow us to have an accessible toilet and we are very grateful to local contractor PDM Groundworks who carried out this and all other groundwork work for us.

The project cost just over £80,000 of which £25,000 was provided by way of grant through South Norfolk District Council as part of the Pride in Place scheme.
