10u County Cup Report

Over the weekend the girls 10u county team travelled to Frinton to compete against Bedfordshire, Essex and Suffolk. 
The team of Beatrice, Georgia, Riya, Sofia and Sophia started the weekend against Suffolk. There were some close matches and some good tennis but unfortunately we came out the wrong side and on another day they could have easily gone our way. We were 4-0 down after singles. 
Saturday got no easier with Essex next. The girls fought hard but unfortunately were 4-0 down again after singles. 
Doubles to finish the day against both counties. Unfortunately, we lost all doubles to lose both matches 6-0, but there were definitely positives. At 2nd doubles we lost 10-6 in match tiebreaks against both counties. 
Sunday was a straight shootout with Bedfordshire for 3rd place. Georgia and Sophia got Norfolk off to a great start by winning at number 4&3 respectively. Sofia then lost a close match at number 1 singles, before Riya played a smart match to win at number 2, making it 3-1, meaning we needed just 1 doubles win to secure victory. 
Sophia and Bea played a great match at number 2 doubles to get us over the line. Sofia and Riya then rounded off a great day with a win at number 1 doubles, meaning a 5-1 win overall and a 3rd place finish. 
The girls were great to work with over the weekend. They were all very receptive when I went on court and tried hard to implement the tactics I suggested to win the matches. Overall a positive weekend
