Sunday 10th September, one of the hottest days of the year, saw tennis balls flying speedily across nets at Gorleston Tennis Club in Orde Avenue as finals were played in our annual Club Championship. The event was well attended by members, friends and family plus Mike Walker, the President of the Norfolk LTA and Hilary Kerrison past Championship winner, coach and supporter of GLTC.

Spectators were privileged to watch an Exhibition match between two Norfolk County Men players – Alex McNaughton and Alex Watkinson.

A light lunch and afternoon tea was served during the day. Trophies were presented by Mike and Hilary from Norfolk LTA.

Congratulations to all the finalists who played in challenging conditions in long and gruelling matches. The winners of the following finals were: Ladies’ singles – Mandy Driver; Men’s singles – Remi (Under 18); Men’s Veterans – Dale Miller; Restricted singles – Keith Farnsworth; Ladies Doubles – Mandy Driver and Sue Elliot; Mixed Doubles – Mandy Driver and Dale Miller.

Gorleston Lawn Tennis Club welcomes new members of all standards. It has a flourishing coaching programme run by the NTA (National Tennis Association) for juniors and adults and many opportunities for new members to play.
