Eleanor Reynolds
How did you first get involved in Tennis?
I first got involved in tennis when I was seven years old and came down to try a coaching session and loved it.
What tennis or other relevant qualifications do you have?
I have a level one tennis coaching certificate.
How long have you been involved with Northallerton Tennis Club?
I have been involved with Northallerton Club for thirteen years.
What is your role at Northallerton Tennis Club?
I am an assistant coach as well as a member of the club.
What do you enjoy most about Northallerton Tennis Club and/ or your role?
My favourite thing about Northallerton Tennis club is having the opportunity to play tennis competitively in different leagues both as a junior then in the adult leagues.
Who is your tennis idol?
My tennis idol is Billie Jean King.
Laura Reynolds:
How did you first get involved in Tennis?
I began playing tennis when I was six after my sister had been attending coaching session for a few years and really enjoyed learning how to play.
What tennis or other relevant qualifications do you have?
In 2019 I gained a level one tennis coaching certificate and am now an assistant coach as well as a member at the tennis club.
How long have you been involved with Northallerton Tennis Club?
I have been involved with Northallerton tennis club for eleven years.
What do you enjoy most about Northallerton Tennis Club and/ or your role?
What I enjoy the most about Northallerton Tennis club is being able to play with people of lots of different ages who help me to improve my playing abilities.
Who is your tennis idol?
My tennis idol is Althea Gibson who, despite all the barriers that stood in her way, became the first African American to win a Grand Slam title.
Matthew Midgely
Matthew started playing tennis at Northallerton Tennis club aged 10.
He progressed through youth coaching to senior tennis and has been a regular first team player in the Harrogate and District Tennis league. Matthew has also participated in the club championships and has won the men’s singles, men’s doubles, mixed competitions. He has also been victorious in various club tournaments. Matthew is a member of the coaching team and has completed the LTA level one coaching course, achieving 98% in the assessment! Matthew is also a member of the tennis club committee and is the youth tennis coordinator. The other interesting fact about Matthew is that he met his wife, Jen at Northallerton Tennis Club in 2009, and they now have three budding tennis players, Jack, Alfie and Lucy!
