Terms of Use

These terms of use apply to tennis court bookings being made at the Pennington Recreation Ground.

Bookings

  • You must book a court online before you play.   Pennington Recreation Ground is a Pay and Play site and current fees are set at £4 per hour per court. 
  • Please cancel any unwanted bookings online (even if at the last minute), to allow others to play.  Cancellations with more than 12 hours’ notice will be given an automatic refund. 
  • In the event of bad weather or adverse playing conditions, users should inform us that play has been cancelled on the same day for a refund to be requested.  Refunds are at the discretion of the Town Council. 
  • You can book up to 1 hours’ worth of tennis per day, so 7 hours in total per week.
  • Bookings can be made up to 7 days in advance.
  • The Town Council has the right to cancel bookings at their discretion, where there is good cause to do so. An email will be sent to the member notifying them, should this be necessary.
  • The Town Council reserve the right to pre-book the courts for coaching, events and maintenance.

Court Rules

  • Players should comply with the principles of “Respect and Fair Play”, both on and off the Courts.
  • Players should wear appropriate sports clothing and footwear when on the Courts.
  • Smoking is not permitted on the Courts.
  • No dogs are permitted on the Courts.
  • Please vacate the Court promptly at the end of your booked session and please ensure you close the court gate properly when you leave, so that it locks correctly. 
  • Any reports of booking time abuse may result in that member being prohibited from making further bookings. 
  • Take off the Courts everything that you take on – including all balls and general litter (please use bins provided in the park).
  • Players play tennis at their own risk and are asked to apply common sense in looking out for themselves and other players at all times.
  • No person may coach others for financial gain on any Court. 
  • Report any damage to the Town Council using the contact details listed below.
  • Southborough Town Council reserve the right to amend these terms at any time.

Right to Play

  • You must book a Court online before playing, and it is your responsibility to look after your booking pin number.
  • Please take your booking confirmation email with you, so you can provide this if asked.
  • If someone is playing on the Court you have booked when you arrive, please use your booking confirmation as proof, where possible, or use another Court if necessary.  If you encounter any problems, please contact us on 01892 529176 during office hours (Monday to Friday 9:00 – 13:00) or email admin@southboroughcouncil.co.uk 

Safe to Play Guidance

  • Players use any of the Park Tennis Courts at the Pennington Recreation Ground is at their own risk.
  • Check the weather forecast before booking.
  • Courts’ playability is subject to weather conditions.
  • If you breach any of our guidance or terms, we reserve the right to cancel all bookings without refund.
