Director of tennis:

David Lawlor - LTA level 5 Master Club Coach

David is an LTA level 5 Master Club Coach, MCC qualified and also head coach at Harpenden Tennis Club. "I started coaching in 2001 straight out of University having gained an honours degree in sports and exercise science. I soon realised that I wanted a career in tennis coaching and focused on improving my coaching skills and knowledge base. In 2006 I became Head Coach here at Harpenden. Continuing my development I passed Level 5 Master Club Coach Award in 2013.

I have great enthusiasm and drive to achieve the mission ‘Life Skills Through Sport’. Tennis builds core skills, transferable to many alternative environments, optimizing performance and creating a healthy outlook on life. Driving coaching delivery is my philosophy ‘creating an environment that is non-judgmental, and focused on hard work towards SMART process goals. Feedback is centered on effort, concentration, determination and decision making."

Head coach:

Megan Godfrey-Evans - LTA level 3 licensed coach.

Aged 3 I attended my first tennis lesson at Harpenden LTC and I have been hooked ever since! I became a tennis leader age 13; I went onto complete my Level 1 and 2 qualifications whilst at school, shadowing the coaches in after school hours. In January of 2017 I became a licenced tennis coach working full time.  In the summer of 2018 I travelled to America, Vermont to work for Cliff Drysdale Tennis.

My drive is to make tennis accessible to everyone, this pushes me to work hard with a variety of players, ages and abilities. My sessions are based around a personal approach to learning the game, having fun and working hard to achieve the individual’s goals. I am committed to growing the game of tennis and showing people the benefits of playing our great sport

Coach:

Jess Grant-Baisley - LTA level 4 senior club coach and 1st4sport Level 2 Stregth and conditioning coach.

I have been playing since I was 4 years old. I knew that I wanted to be a tennis coach from a young age so I became a leader and then passed my coaching qualification in 2013, I then went onto achieve my level 4 senior club coach in 2018. I'm very passionate about sharing the knowledge I have acquired over my 8 years of coaching.
