We're delighted to announce that our head coach, Mihály Bukur has been named Hampshire Coach of the Year. The award was presented by Chris Wilkinson (former British men’s no. 1 and Davis Cup player) at the Hampshire & IOW Celebration evening at the end of February.

The award was is in recognition of the successful mini and junior programme that Mihály has developed over the last two years at Romsey Tennis, his performance coaching and his general enthusiasm and promotion of inclusive tennis for all.

Mihály has had an incredible career as a coach, working with several top performance juniors and seniors and holding senior positions around the world, including being the national coach at Cyprus tennis. He has brought his wealth of experience to the club and transformed the coaching structure, whilst maintaining the club’s ethos as a community facility open to all. Mihaly is supported by a group of other fantastic coaches, Veronica, Ross and Ian.

Mihály has built a thriving group of juniors now regularly competing at the club and the base of strong adult players continues to grow. With sessions like cardio tennis and programmes for players at all standards, there is something for everyone.

If you’d like to meet Mihály or find out more about Romsey Tennis, please get in touch by emailing at or call him on 07800 949772. New memberships for the next year start in April but non-members can also book courts at their leisure.
