SPLTC Championship Finals Day 2022

An excellent day with the new courts opened and Ken Munday presented with an engraved silver platter and Life time membership on his 90th  birthday.

There were some excellent matches with Katy Kirkby beating Kamila Morgan ( a repeat of last year's final) in the ladies singles in a thriller.

Tamsin Crumbie who had earlier won her first ever trophy at SPLTC in the mixed doubles final with Nathan, and Katy beat Laura O'Duffy and Gillian Edwards in a fiercely competitive ladies doubles final.

Vibeke Johannessen also won her first ever trophy partnering Steve Popham in the veterans mixed doubles (against Bob Morris and Gillian Edwards). The first set was very one sided with the eventual winners taking it 6-0 but after that the match became very competitive going to a 3rd set. There was drama when Steve's calf muscle in his left leg went and he fell. Luckily after some treatment and the use of a support sleeve on the calf he was able to complete the match.

Many thanks to the excellent organisers and umpires and Mike Thomas and Andy Thomas who ran the barbeque and to all the providers of home made cakes
