LTA Accredited Programme

Southfields Lawn Tennis Club holds Lawn Tennis Association TennisMark accreditation, recognising the club’s commitment to high-quality coaching, player development and strong safeguarding standards.

This accreditation confirms that our tennis programme, coaching delivery and club policies meet nationally recognised standards both on and off the court.

Community Partnerships

Metro Tennis, in partnership with Southfields LTC, has a strong record of social outreach in the local community. Although the coaching organisation leads this work, it is only possible thanks to Southfields LTC’s support in providing access to both the courts and the clubhouse.

Rackets Cubed https://racketscubed.com/
Metro Tennis works with Rackets Cubed to deliver inspiring tennis sessions for children and young people that combine sport with learning, mentoring and healthy food. Our coaches provide high‑quality tennis as part of Rackets Cube’s after‑school and holiday programmes, helping participants build confidence, discipline and positive habits in a safe, encouraging environment. Together, we use tennis to support brighter futures and create lasting impact beyond the court. At present, Metro Tennis delivers these activities at the National Tennis Centre, Ibstock School and Roehampton University, but once a new clubhouse is built at Southfields LTC it will be possible to offer Rackets Cubed a local base and potentially extend their work into this part of SW18.

Tim Henman Foundation https://henmanfoundation.org/
Metro Tennis proudly works with the Tim Henman Foundation to deliver tennis programmes that support young people facing disadvantage, using sport to build confidence, aspiration and life skills. Through school and community‑based sessions led by Metro Tennis coaches, participants are introduced to tennis in a fun, supportive setting while also developing teamwork, resilience and self‑belief. Together, we use tennis as a positive force to help young people thrive on and off the court. In 2025 our coaches worked on‑site at The Paddock School and Garratt Park, and in 2026 we have expanded our partnership with the Foundation to invite pupils from Ronald Ross School, particularly those with SEND, as well as those from The Paddock and Garratt Park, to experience two terms of tennis at Southfields LTC.

LTA Foundation https://www.lta.org.uk/what-we-do/lta-tennis-foundation/
In partnership with the LTA Foundation, Metro Tennis helps make tennis more accessible, inclusive and welcoming for people of all ages and backgrounds. Funding from the Foundation enables Metro Tennis to run community sessions, school programmes and inclusive activities that improve physical health, wellbeing and social connection. This partnership ensures more people have the opportunity to pick up a racket, enjoy the game and feel part of the tennis community. Examples of this work include the LTA Serves: Breaking Down Barriers initiative, which aims to embed tennis in more than 100 UK prisons to support rehabilitation, mental health and reduced re‑offending.

Smashing Balls
In 2023, Southfields LTC successfully applied to Wandsworth Council for a small grant to enable Metro Tennis to provide free coaching to three special schools in Wandsworth over a 12‑week period. These school‑based sessions were also used to link students to a “Weekend Club” at Southfields LTC, which offered a free two‑hour family tennis session. This project aimed to support a significant positive lifestyle change for more than 100 SEND/SEMH pupils in Wandsworth and surrounding areas who developed anxiety as a result of COVID‑related disruption to their daily routines.

HAF (Holiday Activities and Food)
HAF is the government’s “Holiday Activities and Food” scheme for children aged 4 to 16 who are in full‑time education and in receipt of free school meals. Metro Tennis has been proud to support this initiative by offering free places on our holiday tennis camps, recognising that school holidays can be a challenging time for some families due to increased costs (including food and childcare) and reduced income. For participating children, we also provided a hot, nutritious meal and healthy‑eating sessions, and we received excellent feedback from parents and children alike.

After School Clubs https://www.stmichaels.wandsworth.sch.uk/
Metro Tennis has built a strong relationship with St Michael’s CE Primary School and delivers an after‑school tennis club for 25 pupils each Wednesday during term time. As part of this, we offer two free places to disadvantaged pupils (FSM), nominated by the school.

The Future
Metro Tennis, with the support of Southfields LTC, intends to continue these partnerships and, where possible, to deepen and extend our involvement with existing partners. We also plan to establish further after‑school clubs with other local primary schools and are exploring the introduction of a weekly “Walking Tennis” session for older members of the local community.
