Stamford U14 boys have been out on court this month, representing the club in the Aegon League.
On the 7th May Stamford hosted Sleaford and entertained spectators with an afternoon of nail biting tennis. Edward Hall and Jonathon Watkinson both secured their singles win on tie breaks; whilst James Bassett and Roddy Mountain took their double partnership to a winning tie break finish. With James also winning his singles match; Stamford beat Sleaford 8:4.
Market Deeping was the venue for our second match on 21st May. Stamford has enjoyed both Aegon and friendly matches against Deeping over the last 12 months, managing to be the Aegon champions, just! So we knew that the competition would be fierce and that Deeping would be determined to regain the title. Despite some fabulous tennis and great perseverance, it was Deeping’s day and they took home a very convincing win 12:0. We’re planning to meet them again for a friendly later in the season, so hopefully that cup won’t be gone for long!
Many thanks to Carole Wilson for a pre-match training session, and to the parents for providing match teas and transport; and lastly well done to the boys for some fantastic tennis, see you again next year.
