Timeline
1993 - club founded by Lt Col and Mrs Veitch (Trevor and Uschi)
2000 - club purchased from Trevor Veitch by its members
2003 - 15 year lease agreed with Stamford School
2003 - clubhouse opened in December - built from 3 Elliott Medway units, salvaged from a field near Peterborough for £800
2005 - practice wall installed, cost £7k
2006 - floodlights installed, cost £34k (£5k SES loan, £5k LTA loan, £5k SKBC grant, £10k members loans, £9k reserves)
2006 - coaching contract agreed with R2R
2016 - we set a new 5 year plan; we upgraded many of our systems and processes - a new website, online membership, online court booking, newsletter, members survey etc. The floodlights were refurbished to squeeze the last few years of useful life from them.
2017 - new 15 lease agreed with Stamford School (April 2017 to March 2032)
2018 - clubhouse refurbishment completed - new kitchen, toilets, windows, furniture and external repairs - supported by a £12k grant from Mick George. We agreed a sponsorship deal with Ramsay Health Care, with new team kit for all club players, and the donation of a defibrillator. A further grant from Augean enabled us to extend the car park - removing a tree and adding a new retaining wall. We also renewed the balustrade to the decking areas, installed a patio and new outside furniture.
2019 - the school relaid the top 4 courts, adopting a new blue / green colourway. New low energy LED floodlights were installed on the top courts, supported by an Augean grant.
2020 - the first year of Covid-19. Plenty of socially distanced tennis was still on offer in between lock-downs, but the H&P and PADL leagues were not held. A new roof was installed with grant funding.
2021 - after a further lock down in Q1, we opened up for tennis in March and were back to normal operations by July, with the H&P and PADL leagues back in operation over the summer. We welcomed a new sponsor, Schroders Personal Wealth. The year was topped by the award of Midlands Club of the Year, with CJ Selvidge being awarded Lincolnshire Coach of the Year.
