Finals Day for the Club Tournament Saturday 13 September 2025
Please come and join us for a wonderful day to see our talented finalists battle it out for one of the coveted SLTC Trophy's! The competitors have been busy playing their games over the past couple of months - with all participants enjoying taking part, whether winning or losing! We hope more of you can join in to the run up to this event next year too - and that we can look forward to some new faces in the finals! And in the meantime Finals day is always a great social event in the Steep Tennis Club calendar. Please join us and bring your family and friends and a picnic to make a day of it!
HERE ARE THE FINAL PRACTICAL DETAILS FOR THE DAY AND THE MATCH SCHEDULE.
CAR PARKING
Please park in the Cricket Club car park which they have kindly granted permission for. Adult players and officials will be allocated parking near the club house, with all non players asked to park in the cricket club or remaining space in the SLTC car park.
OTHER PRACTICALITIES
As there are limited chairs at the club, if you have folding chairs, please bring with you. There will be light snacks on offer, with the kind donations from generous members, but these are intended as "tea" only, so if you would like "lunch" do bring along a picnic with everything you need including glasses. Please help us by bringing a rubbish bag (as you know there is only one small bin in the clubhouse) and by taking all your empties away as of course we have no way to dispose of bottles

11.30/11.45 - Presentation of the Trophy by SLTC Chair Andrew Carnegie
15.00 Under 14 Girls. Please join the main presentation at approxiametly 16,30
Juice & crisps&nuts will be offered by SLTC.
A note for Parents: Please park in the Cricket Club, and please bring along cakes & sandwiches to share with the contestants and fellow parents.

MAIN DRAW:
11.00 Main draw Mixed Doubles
12.30 (approx) Awards for these matches to be presented by Club Chair Andrew Carnegie
12.30 A complimentary glass of Pimms will then be served for adult members and the food that members have kindly donated will be on offer. Please note that the food is intended as light snacks only so if you wish to have lunch please bring your own picnic and of course any drinks that you wish to.
MAIN DRAW, Afternoon:
13.00 Ladies and Men's singles
14.45 Men's doubles (The Ladies doubles will be a "walkover" due to various absentees so no match will take place on the day).
Accompanied by strawberries and cream and the very kind dessert donations from members.
MAIN DRAW, Awards Ceremony:
16.15/1630 (approx) By the Club President, Eric Dempster
(Help will then be needed from attendees please to put all equipment away and tidy the kitchen etc)
Court Usage on Finals Day:
All non tournament courts will be reserved until 15.00 for tournament finalists to practice and warm up. (Other members are welcome to use -but priority must be given to the finalists.)
IMPORTANT NOTES for ADULT FINALISTS:
Match start times: No warm up time is allocated on court - so please arrange to warm up with your partner or with the opposition on other courts, to which you have priority.
The Umpires decision is final, so please respect their decision.
The matches will be the best of 3 sets with a championship tie-break in the event of a third set.
Please bring your own snacks/lunch as required.

SUMMER MIX IN BBQ NIGHTS... SUMMER 2025.... BUT SEE YOU IN SUMMER 2026!
These were the last Thursday of the month throughout the summer - with the Grande Finale on 28th August being a huge success!
Jez Pigden bought along the music, Ryan Flint offered beer, Lynette & Tim Clarke kept the BBQ sizzling and Rachel Maunder and Chair Andrew Carnegie kept the games flowing on the 7 courts in operation - it was a really great SLTC Club evening - so we are all looking forward to the next time!
All welcome, including friends and families of all ages, whether playing that evening or not.
