Our aim is for everyone to enjoy playing tennis at Steep in a fun and safe environment.  

We try to keep rules to a minimum; below is a quick guide to playing at Steep.

When can I play?

Mix ins:  

Just turn up and play! Mix ins run on a:  

Tuesday 5-9pm 

Thursday 5-8pm 

Saturday 2-5pm;  

normally 4-5 courts are allocated. 

Private bookings:  

Members may book courts 1-6 anytime from 9.30am – 9.30pm on a first come, first served basis. You are welcome to play outside these times but cannot reserve a court.  

If you don’t need a court you’ve booked, please cancel as soon as possible so others can use it.  

Private bookings may be moved for court/lighting maintenance and repairs, team matches or coaching where needed. 

Matches:  

Home fixtures are played at Steep mainly on weekday evenings and weekends.  

Veterans matches are played midweek during the day.   

Court lighting:  

Floodlights for Courts 1 – 8 can be switched on inside the clubhouse using the key (keybox code is the same as the court gates code): turn the ‘lock' next to the number of the court you wish to use.  

PLEASE SWITCH THE FLOODLIGHTS OFF from inside the clubhouse after use, even if they’ve already gone off automatically, otherwise they come on again in the morning.   

Please report any floodlight or other faults to the Grounds Secretary: grounds@steepltc.org.uk 

Old/unwanted tennis equipment:  

Balls are recycled; please place in the reycling bins on the verandah. 

Rackets in reasonable condition can be donated to children’s tennis charity Give It Your Max: please leave in the box in the clubhouse. 

Please take rubbish such as ball tins, lids and ring pulls with you after play.
