History
Stirling Lawn Tennis & Squash Club has a proud and long-standing history in the local sporting community.
The club was established in 1878, making it one of the three oldest tennis clubs in Scotland, with some evidence suggesting it may in fact be the oldest. It was originally set up at Easter Williamfield before moving to the present site when the second Stirling High School was developed on that land.
Originally, the club had two blaes courts, with a third court added in the 1950s. During the 1960s and 1970s, squash grew rapidly in popularity, and a new clubhouse was built incorporating two squash courts. These opened in September 1976 and were the first squash courts in Stirling.
The club was renamed Stirling Lawn Tennis & Squash Club at this time, reflecting the wider racket sports community that continues today.
Today, the club remains Stirling’s home for tennis, squash, racketball and community racket sports.
