Environmental and Sustainability Commitments
Thame Tennis Club is committed to finding ways to make changes to ensure that the club increases biodiversity and reduces its emissions.
The club is signed up to Thame Cop 26 and has pledged to the following
- Find funding to change the court floodlights to LED lighting
- Continue to encourage members to recycle old tennis balls – finding better ways to do so.
- Provide better labeled recycling bins so that members can easily recycle old tennis ball tins, plastic bottles and crisp packets.
- Provide a compost bin for food waste
- Promote the club as an ‘active club’ whereby members come to the club by bike or on foot whenever possible
- Encourage members of the club to donate/swap rackets so that tennis rackets can be reused.
- Continue to keep our mixed hedge healthy to encourage birds and insects to it.
The Committee would be delighted to hear from members if they would like to become involved in finding and, most importantly, implementing ways for the club to reduce its emissions and increase biodiversity.
