Friendly vs Oundle

Thrapston Tennis Club took part in a friendly tournament with Oundle Tennis Club on Sunday 1st November in dry but blustery weather. Each club fielded 9 teams (all doubles) comprising Men's A, Men's B, Ladies' A, Ladies' B, Mixed A, Mixed B, Mixed C, Men's Veterans' and Ladies' Veterans. Teams played 3 sets using all 4 courts at Thrapston and 5 at Oundle. The format ensured that all players were exposed to no more than 3 others throughout to maintain Covid safety. The games were spirited, competitive, friendly and much enjoyed by all the players. Oundle won the event 5 to 4 in matches; however, the real margin was somewhat greater with 18 sets won by Oundle vs 9 for Thrapston. Both clubs look forward to repeated the event next year, hopefully Covid-free!
