  • The Wanborough tennis Club 50:50 Lottery Club (the “Lottery” or “WTC Lottery”) operates within UK law and is registered under the Gambling Act 2005 with Swindon Borough Council.
  • The Lottery is, by definition of the UK Gambling Commission, a “small society lottery.”
  • The objective of the Lottery is to raise funds for the not-for-profit organisation that is Wanborough Tennis Club to contribute to the on-going future development of its facilities.
  • Payment for a number for entry into the Lottery constitutes acceptance of these Rules.

Administration and Finance

  • The Lottery will be run under the supervision of Wanborough tennis Club Committee with an appointed Lottery Manager responsible for its administration and promotion.
  • 50% of the gross proceeds (the total amount paid for tickets before any deductions) in each month of the Lottery will be applied to the monthly prize fund.
  • 50% of the gross proceeds in each month of the Lottery will be applied to the purposes of Wanborough Tennis Club less any administration costs incurred (equals the remaining profit).
  • The Lottery Manager will keep an up-to-date financial account for each Lottery of all proceeds, prizes paid, expenses and residual profit for Wanborough Tennis Club, which will be available upon request.
  • A digital register of all participants recording their contact details along with the tickets purchased and monies received, will be kept securely in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998.
  • It is the responsibility of the participant to inform the Lottery Manager of any change in their contact details.

Number Purchases

  • The legal minimum age to purchase a number and participate in a Lottery is 16 years old, but WTC is restricting the participation to 18 years and above.
  • Participants agree to pay by monthly bank direct debit for a minimum period of 12 months and monthly thereafter. Payment for a month must be received before entry into that month’s draw is permitted.
  • Each participant can purchase as many numbers as they wish. The Lottery Manager and/or Committee reserves the right to disallow any purchase where it is thought necessary. Each number purchased costs £10 per month.
  • The Lottery will continue on a monthly basis until such time as the Tennis Committee decide. If the Committee decides to end the lottery on a certain date each participant will be given 3 months’ notice of the date of the last lottery draw. Any monies received after the date of the last lottery draw will be returned to the participants.
  • A participant can withdraw from the Lottery by email sent to wanboroughtreasurer@gmail.com to request that the direct debit mandate be cancelled from a specified date. 10 days notice is required for the cancellation to take effect.
  • The same numbers will be entered into each monthly draw for which the participant has paid. New participants can join the Lottery at any time and will be entered into the next monthly draw once their first direct debit payment has been received.
  • Payment for entry into the Lottery can only be made by direct debit.

Prize Draws and Notification

  • Rollovers do not apply in any monthly draw. If a winner cannot be contacted and paid after 6 months, their winnings will be forfeit and placed in Wanborough Tennis Club funds.
  • The lottery prize draw will be made monthly on or around the 2nd Wednesday Coaching Session of each month.
  • The winning lottery numbers at the monthly prize draws will be entirely random and will be witnessed and adjudicated by at least two members of Wanborough Tennis Club Committee.
  • The decision of Wanborough Tennis Club Committee shall be final and binding in any matter requiring adjudication.
  • Each monthly draw will allocate 3 prizes from the monthly prize fund as follows: 1st prize 50% of the total monthly prize fund, 2nd prize 30% of the total monthly prize fund, 3rd prize 20% of the total monthly prize fund. Prize fund amounts will change as participants join or leave the Lottery.
  • There is no limit to the number of times a Lottery participant can win a prize, either within the same monthly prize draw or in subsequent months. A number can only be drawn once in a month.
  • Payments received and cleared by direct debit by the 5th of the prize draw month will ensure inclusion in the draw for that month.
  • Winners will be contacted personally if possible and prize money will be paid by BACS transfer into the same bank account as their monthly direct debit is paid from, as promptly as possible.
  • Monthly winning numbers will be published on the Wanborough Tennis Club web site.
