LTA Pair & Play at Wantage Tennis Club

Pair & Play is free for women (Members & non-members) of an improver and intermediate standard. You can hit the ball over the net and in the court and can have a short rally.

NEW MEMBERS ARE VERY WELCOME TO JOIN FOR THE NEW SEASON AT WANTAGE TENNIS CLUB

The 2025-6 Season starts on April 1. To join now and enjoy immediate membership to March 31 2026, with the rest of this season for free, click on the MEMBERSHIP tab, scroll down to select the appropriate membership and click on JOIN NOW. New Members will need to create a Clubspark account to join. This is the Lawn Tennis Association national software which enables club members to book courts and receive club communications.

Membership includes social and match practice sessions, with balls supplied free of charge, as well as free online court booking to organise your own play, free floodlights for evening play and the facilities of an excellent Clubhouse. There are opportunities for all, all year round, to enjoy social play and match play.

Everyone is welcome to visit the Club for free play on Thursday evenings and Sunday mornings to see what is on offer. Please let us know you are coming. There will also be an Open Weekend on June 7-8 where you can meet Committee and Club Members and play for free.

We are privileged to enjoy the services and support of Club Coach Andy Aitken and AA Tennis, providing a range of tennis activities for the members as well as the wider community. Juniors in the termly AA Tennis coaching courses automatically gain Club membership.

We pride ourselves on being a sociable and friendly club. We have an experienced and committed Committee who make it all happen for the members. We are also very fortunate to have a team of volunteers who keep us ship shape with the monthly Saturday morning work parties. Annual social events also provide opportunities for more than tennis.

Wantage Lawn Tennis Club is located in the town’s beautiful and historic Manor Road Park, a five minute walk from the town centre. The park, set in an extensive area of grassland and established trees, also includes Wantage Bowling Club, children’s play facilities, the refurbished Bandstand and car parking.

You can "try before you buy" by joining in on a couple of our Social Sessions for free (Thurs evening & Sun morning are best). Membership is available at a reduced cost per month for remainder of the current season. The new season starts on April 1. Adult Membership for 2025-6 is £155 with reductions for couples, families and concessions.

Wantage Tennis Club has always welcomed players of all abilities and there are many opportunities all year round for social play as well as match play. If you have enjoyed playing on the public courts, are new to tennis or returning after a break, have just moved to the area or wish to test the water with some social play, whatever your age or ability, you are WELCOME at WANTAGE TENNIS CLUB.

Match-play is available throughout the year and new Members who wish to play competitively will be able to find a place in one of the squads. We have a number of Mens, Ladies, and Mixed teams playing in the Oxfordshire League at the weekends, and a Mixed team playing in the Newbury League on a Monday evening.

Non Members can book Courts 5 and 6 which are Pay and Play (£6.76 per hour plus £2.50 for floodlights.) BOOK HERE

We are always keen to have new members. If you would like to play please contact the chairman or secretary (https://clubspark.lta.org.uk/WantageLawnTennisClub/AboutUs/Contact), who can arrange for you to join an appropriate session.

There are currently three adult social mix-in sessions a week. These are on:
Tuesday evenings from 6:00pm
Thursday evenings from 6:00pm
Sunday mornings from 10am to 12:30

Additionally we have:

Senior Servers - Relaxed Seniors Tennis
• Tuesday mornings from 10:00 to 12:00
• Wednesday mornings from 11:00 to 12:00
• Friday afternoons from 14:00 to 16:00 BST in the Summer (13:00 to 15:00 GMT in the Winter)

Members are also welcome to bring guests to play on Club courts, a £2.25 guest fee is payable by the member. Just enter the guest's name during the booking process, payment by card. Alternatively contact the Treasurer for payment details.

Safeguarding

The key Safeguarding Documents that all members are asked to read are: Safeguarding Statement 2023 and Safe and Inclusive Code of Conduct 2023. All the Club safeguarding Rules, Regulations and Policies have been updated and can be found here.
