In line with Lockdown restrictions the club will be closed, until the LTA updates the guidelines, from the 5th November.
We have adapted the following from the LTA guidelines which can be found here in their entirety, however we ask you to adhere to the following:
only Members that have renewed their Membership for 2020 are granted court access. To discuss renewal please contact Membership Secretary Bob Wilson on [email protected]
Use of the Clubhouse is restricted to obtaining the court keys and use of the toilets - please do not leave belongings inside the Clubhouse or congregate.
Pre-arranged singles and doubles can be played with people from different households, as long as players remain 2 metres apart as far as possible – meaning that four people from different households can play doubles. Do not turn up expecting a game.
Organised group activity (coaching, club sessions, or competitions) iaredefined as being an activity organised by a national governing body, club, registered instructor/coach, business or charity, where in all cases organiser must conduct a risk assessment and take all reasonable steps to limit transmission of the coronavirus by reference to that risk assessment and all relevant COVID-19 Secure guidance.
INFORMAL SOCIAL PLAY
For informal social play, group size is limited to a maximum of six people by law. This means you can play tennis providing people only meet up with no more than 5 other people from different households and observe social distancing guidelines
To maintain social distancing please give way to people leaving the Club in the walkway.
Please use personal rackets and where possible tennis balls. Club balls are available but we cannot guarantee the cleanliness of these so use of Club balls is at individual risk.
If a ball strays onto your court, return it using the foot and racket method.
If you change ends then do so using opposite sides of the net - social distancing should be maintained at all times.
If playing doubles, decide before each point who will take the shots that go down the middle of court.
Coaching with groups of 6 is permitted (including the coach) as long as social distancing is maintained.
Please make use of the hand wash and wipe handles, locks and surfaces with the spray and blue cloth provided.
Do not shake hands at the end of a set/match.
If you have any of the symptoms associated with Coronavirus then you MUST NOT PLAY. If after playing you develop any symptoms, please let Simon, Bob, Jamie or Walter know immediately and contact the Government's test and trace scheme.
We are relying on members to be considerate and careful when using the facilities but members are ultimately responsible for themselves and their own safety.
We're sure that if we all follow these simple rules then tennis can be enjoyed safely. Anyone found to be repeatedly ignoring the rules will be asked to explain his/her actions to the Committee and risks being suspended from the Club. As Government advice changes then these rules will be reviewed again and we will notify you of any changes as quickly as possible.
This friendly club caters for all standards of play. If you enjoy playing competitively we have representative teams in both the Avon and North Somerset County Doubles Leagues. We also run an internal singles league and organise singles and doubles tournaments at various times through the year. We also organise regular Junior tournaments.
