Julien Lawes (Head Coach)

Julien Lawes, Coach

Julien is the qualified LTA Tennis Head Coach at Weymouth Tennis Club, gaining his Level 1 Development Coach Award in 2006, quickly followed by his Club Coach award in 2007.

He regularly attends new courses to keep up-to-date and ensure every player is able to reach their full potential. He is pleased to be able to offer the very latest, with Cardio Tennis now on offer at the club.

Julien also has a Level 3 BTEC National Diploma in Sports Development and Fitness which he achieved in 2004 through Weymouth College. Julien’s enthusiasm for sport, fitness and exercise is second to none.

Julien also works for Wey Valley School as Community Tennis Coach through which he visits 10 local primary schools delivering tennis as part of the National Curriculum and introducing players to Weymouth Tennis Club.

As the coaching team has grown over the past few years, Julien’s role as Head Coach has changed dramatically.  His main priority is focusing on producing, developing and maintaining a high quality of performance players which will put Weymouth Tennis Club on the map.  In addition, the team continually works closely with West Hants (High Performance Centre Bournemouth) under the guidance of Shane Deacon, Head of Mini Tennis.

Julien is dedicated to the Club’s coaching programme to ensure there is something for everyone age 4 to 60+, from complete beginners to high performance players. He aims to provide first-class tuition educating you in safe, efficient and fun sessions to help you improve your game.

Chris Penny (Assistant Coach & Mini Tennis Co-ordinator)

Chris Penny

Chris has been involved in mini tennis for many years and is happy to now see the children of former pupils sharing their parents’ and her love of the game.

Her experience and expertise are invaluable to the Junior Section of Weymouth Tennis Club.

She is still happy to be involved in the grass roots of the game on a Saturday morning, pay and play sessions and the chances are if you enter a competition in Weymouth or Dorchester she will be running it!

She can also been seen further afield running both County and Regional events in the South West.
