Social Tennis

If you just want to enjoy your tennis without the competitive pressure of playing in teams, you won’t be alone at WTC. Our dedicated social tennis players play all year round on Monday evenings, just come down and join in! It’s the ideal way to get back into tennis if you’ve had a break or if you’re developing your game. Social tennis sessions are for all members – it’s all about mixing in, healthy exercise and having fun!

We also run a WhatsApp group for social tennis players to arrange a hit at other times during the week. If you would like to join this group please email info@whitchurchtenniscardiff.co.uk

Tournaments

Our main CLUB TOURNAMENT events take place over the summer culminating in our SUMMER FINALS DAY in late summer. The day features the finals in our Men's Singles & Doubles, Ladies Singles & Doubles and Mixed Doubles. The Club Junior Tournaments also take place over the summer.

We follow our Summer Finals Day with our AUTUMN FINALS DAY. Events include the Hailey and Parkinson Cups plus our Veterans events. The Hailey Cup is open to men who have yet to win the trophy. Similarly, the Parkinson Cup is only open to ladies who have not previously won it. Both tournaments are prestigious competitions - the Hailey Cup dates back to 1919, while the Parkinson has been in existence since 1952.

Visitors

Visitors are very welcome at WTC as every visitor is a potential new member!

Visiting the Club is a good way to see if WTC matches up to what you’re looking for in a tennis club in Cardiff whether you’re a beginner, an improver or an experienced player. Come and see the Club, meet some members and get out on court.

Court bookings can be made in the booking section of this website.  Whether you’re a local or from further away, please come and see us!

The courts are available for use by members and visitors from 9.00am onwards unless courts have been reserved for coaching, a league match or a special event such as Finals Day or a junior ratings event. All court bookings should be made on the Booking page for members and visitors.

Please respect other members and our neighbours by remembering the following:

  • the use of bad language and shouting on court is never acceptable
  • keep bikes off the courts
  • use the bins for food waste and drinks bottles
  • use appropriate non-marking footwear when on court
  • use the path and the gates – don’t walk on court behind other players
  • if all courts are busy, play 1 set of doubles then let any waiting members take their turn

Floodlights can be used by members as required but the lights should be off at 9.45pm out of courtesy to our neighbours. An annual floodlight fee can be purchased for £20 per person from the membership page.

All members are asked to encourage everyone on court to behave appropriately so everyone can enjoy their tennis in a competitive but friendly atmosphere.
