Bakewell Tennis Courts are now OPEN.
There is a new electronic gate access system and accessible pathway from the football pitch side. (The sign for the courts and QR code for booking is located on the new access gate). We would recommend booking online before turning up to play.
The tennis courts will be available to book during daylight hours only. Courts cost £6 per court per hour (in line with Hall Leys Park Tennis Court fees)
You can book the courts for FREE at these time:
- Monday - Friday 4 - 6pm
- Saturday & Sundays 2-4pm
If you want to use the basketball hoop you will need to book court 1.
Bikes, scooters, skateboards, roller skates/blades, remote controlled cars are not permitted on the courts as they can damage the court surface.

Bakewell Pickleball is based at the Agricultural Business Centre (ABC) Agricultural Way, Bakewell, DE45 1AH (Indoor Venue Open on Wednesdays only subject to events)
Pickleball Court Hire: £10 per hour and includes the hire of 4 paddles and a pickleball. Parking passes are also available on showing your booking confirmation.
Bakewell Recreation Ground
Bakewell Recreation Ground is also known as Rutland Recreation Ground. It provides fun and enjoyment for people of all ages. It is set in 5.25 hectares of land, and has great outdoor sporting facilities.
In the south east corner where the river meanders around the edge of the park a new wildflower meadow has been created, a perfect area to sit and relax.
The park is just a few minutes' walk away from the town centre of Bakewell, so you can buy sandwiches and drinks and have a picnic in the summer.
Facilities include:
- Children's play area
- Children's splash pad (open May to end September)
- 2 Tennis Courts - OPENING 20th OCTOBER 2025
- A basketball hoop is on court 1 (Free access is available at set times bookable through Clubspark during Daylight hours).
- Toilets (April to October)
- 2 Football pitches- available to hire (parksbookings@derbyshiredales.gov.uk)
- 2 Croquet lawns - available to hire (parksbookings@derbyshiredales.gov.uk)
- A cricket square - available to hire (parksbookings@derbyshiredales.gov.uk)
- Pavilion - available to hire (parksbookings@derbyshiredales.gov.uk)
