What is Pickleball?
Pickleball is one of the fastest growing sports in the world at the moment and especially so in the Derbyshire Dales. Pickleball is a fun sport which combines tennis, badminton and table tennis. It is played on a court roughly the size of a badminton court.
Pickleball is held at the ABC centre in Bakewell. What3Word location of the entrance: ///either.precautions.protected

You can learn how to play by joining one of our Pickleball Coach supported sessions on Tuesdays at the ABC:
We have 2 courts (1 full size and a mini court). Each session is now open to up to 8 players per group. Please contact Peter Chamberlain (peter.chamberlain@derbyshiredales.gov.uk) to discuss which group to join.
- Tuesday 12.30pm - 1.25pm (Experienced players)
- Tuesday 1.30pm - 2.25pm (Experienced players)
- Tuesday 2.30pm - 3.25pm (Experienced players)
If you know how to play why not hire the court on a Wednesday?
Pickleball Court Hire
Wednesdays 9am to 4pm - £10 per hour includes 4 Paddles and a pickleball. Parking passes for the ABC car park will also be provided - please have your booking reference available.
Court Bookings close at 4pm on the Tuesday before each Wednesday court hire. This is to allow us to have the venue ready to use.
The court has a max of 4 player on the court at any one time with 6 player attending the session (rolling on & off the court).
Due to events the court is not available for booking on:
- 27th May & 16th September 2026 due to NHS Blood Drive
