Club tournament 2019: #2 of 3

Today dawned fine, but a little chilly. But that was soon forgotten as rounds of relentless singles got underway and the sun rose higher and hotter.

With 9 men and 4 ladies competing for the historic club singles trophies, the competition was tight. In both the men’s and ladies draws every player played every other player.

This led to a replay of the 2018 ladies final between Jane and Lulu, but with Lulu lifting the trophy this time.

And in the men’s, semi-finals between Chris and Pascal, and Tim and Ben, led to Chris and Tim facing each other in the final. Despite some top tips on ball handling from his coach (Red Dog) Tim came in second to Chris’s magnificent tennis!

And in the background friends, families, dogs and supporters were out in force. And their help managing the BBQ was much appreciated with chief BBQer Tim being tied up on court.

We rounded the day off with birthday celebrations for Tim, Ben and Chris.

A massive thank you to organisers Millie and Chris.

Put 15th September in your diaries for the club mens doubles and ladies doubles…
