Bridport Tennis Club held its annual Finals Day on Sunday 28th September with 7 blistering finals played in glorious early autumn sunshine.

In the Men’s Singles final Neil Blincow played majestically to beat Scott Carson 6-0, while in the Ladies’ Singles final Billy Lintel narrowly beat Janet Clayton 7-6 after a tie-break finish. Meanwhile the Juniors Singles title went to Ethan Taylor who won against Isaac Fitzpatrick 7-6 in a gripping match which also went to a tie-break.

The various doubles finals provided plenty of entertainment for families and friends watching on with Alan Cash and Ethan Taylor beating Marc McNaughton and Huw Rees 6-2 in the Men’s Doubles, a second trophy for Taylor. 

Sara Hipwell and Jill Christison held off Niamh Vercoe and Janice Retter to win the Ladies’ Doubles 6-2. There was better luck for Vercoe in the Mixed Doubles when she and John Snape beat Scott Carson and Janice Retter 6-1 while the Seniors’ Doubles final was won by Julian Jones and Geoff Smith who beat Mark Oppe and Huw Rees 6-3.

The prizes and club trophies were presented to the winners by new club Chairwoman Sue Arnold. Many thanks to all who took part not only in the finals but also in all the competition days throughout the month leading up to  finals day.
