COVID-19: Restricted play

LTA Guidance for Tennis Players

During these difficult and stressful times, we need to be united in our efforts to ensure everyone's health and wellbeing.  So we're all having to adhere to unusually strict rules... but please bear in mind that it's also really important to be patient and kind to one another. Thank you so much for your understanding.

Caversham Park Tennis Club is adjacent to Clayfield Copse, off Caversham Park Road, on the outskirts of Reading. Boasting six floodlit porous macadam courts and a spacious purpose-built clubhouse, the club is registered with the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) and offers a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment for everyone to enjoy playing tennis.

The club provides FREE balls for use in club sessions and FREE floodlighting all year round up to 10:00pm. The clubhouse has ladies and gents toilets and changing rooms. There's a well-equipped kitchen providing FREE tea and coffee for members and guests.

Run by the members for the members, the club caters for players of all standards - those looking to enjoy friendly social tennis as well as those interested in serious competitive match play.

Tennis at CPTC is diverse and inclusive. In fact, diversity and inclusion are embedded in the club's culture. We are committed to prioritising the well-being of all children and adults at risk, promoting safeguarding in our club at all times, including all programmes and events we run. Our Safeguarding Policy strives to minimise risk, deliver a positive tennis experience for everyone and respond appropriately to all safeguarding concerns/disclosures. The Welfare Officer is Andrew Harland (email: [email protected]).

Joining the club

We welcome new members of all ages and all levels of play, and we encourage people to try out our facilities before joining. A variety of membership options is available. Please take a look at the 'Join' page of this website or pop into the club to have a chat with some of our members or one of the coaching team. If you would like to meet us during one of our adult club sessions, these take place as follows:

  • Tuesday evenings from 6 pm
  • Wednesday mornings from 10 am
  • Thursday evenings from 6 pm
  • Saturday afternoons from 12 noon
  • Sunday mornings from 10 am

The club's weekly programme includes five mix-in club sessions for adults (as detailed above). There's also a mix-in junior club session throughout the summer*. We currently have adult (mens, ladies and mixed) and junior teams competing in the Berkshire leagues with a wide spread of league positions, ensuring competitive tennis for members of all standards. There is an annual club tournament and we also run a singles box league throughout the year.

The club's Junior Organiser and the GDT coaching team provide excellent opportunities for juniors to enjoy and develop their tennis at the club. The programme includes a Tuesday junior club session throughout the summer months (apart from a break during the school summer holidays)*, singles box leagues, an annual tournament and a junior tennis squad representing the club in external competition.
