Adult coaching

Learn, develop, play!

The main aim of our coaching programme is to help players of all ages experience the full fun and excitement of tennis through:

  • learning the basics
  • developing their skills
  • playing the sport

We believe that learning tennis skills without playing the sport is like learning a new language but never using it!

Our programme is run by Head Coach Michael Russell, supported by a team of qualified coaches, assistants and tennis leaders.

Coaching sessions and other events are available for three groups of adult players:

  • Beginner - adults keen to learn the basics with other beginners in a friendly, fun environment; our second Adult Beginner course of 2024 is online and we’re planning to run courses continuously throughout the year
  • Progression – players who have learned the basics and are now aiming to take their game to the next level by learning more advanced techniques and tactics
  • Team Player - players preparing for team tennis and aiming to improve their match performance through team training sessions

Cardio Tennis

Cardio Tennis classes.  Cardio Tennis is a high-energy fitness activity that combines the best features of tennis with tough cardiovascular exercise, delivering the ultimate, full body, calorie-burning, aerobic workout.  Cardio Tennis is set on a tennis court and supported by motivating music. It’s suitable for people of all ages and abilities.

Pickleball

Pickleball is a paddle sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton, and ping-pong using a paddle and plastic ball with holes. It's a fantastic social activity, suitable for players of all ages.  It can also be a challenging, fast-paced, and competitive sport when people become more experienced at playing.

Over the winter, we're running weekly Pickleball sessions indoors at Queen Anne High School.  Two groups are available - Beginner and Improver - details below.

We have Pickleball equipment at the club for members to use whenever they wish, and we'll also be running one-off matchplay events throughout the year so you can showcase your skills!

 

Our Winter tem block finished on Sunday 17th November.  Over the winter months (until mid-February 2025), we'll arrange outdoor sessions whenever there's a spell of good weather.

Sessions planned for Mondays 6th, 13th, 20th, 27th January, and 3rd, 10th February.

The session on 10th February will be a fun matchplay competition, giving the players a chance to showcase their skills!
