Croquet

Croquet is a sport suitable for all ages and levels of ability. It requires little strength to play the game. If you are new to croquet we can get you started or if you have played before we can find you someone of a similar standard to play against. Croquet has lots of variations and some people play their own version. We play “Association Croquet (AC)”, “Golf Croquet (GC)” “One Ball” and “Short Croquet”. The emphasis is very much towards enjoying whichever game you wish to play.

We have two Croquet Association qualified club coaches who are ready and willing to get you started or help you improve your game. All coaching is free and can be delivered on a one to one basis or with a group. It can take place at a time to suit you or before club afternoons or during club sessions.

We have two full sized croquet lawns and a half lawn. In our equipment hut we have 16 modern mallets of various lengths and weights. We also have competition quality sets of hoops and balls. All equipment is free for members to use. You will be shown how to set up a lawn. The equipment hut has a combination lock the code for which you will receive when you become a member. This enables you to play whenever you wish.

The club holds three club sessions a week to which all are welcome.

On Mondays and Thursdays from 2-5pm we play Golf Croquet

On Tuesday morning + afternoon Association Croquet practice

It is customary to pause mid-afternoon for refreshments. The dress code is informal but could you please make sure that your footwear will not dig into the lawn i.e. no heels! If playing in a league match or playing against another club you may be required to wear whites.

Eardisley Croquet Section is a member of Croquet England and is part of the West Midland Federation (WMF) of clubs. We enter teams in the WMF Association Croquet League and their Golf Croquet Leagues. We frequently arrange friendlies with other clubs. The club also holds a number of internal competitions with cups awarded at the Annual Dinner.
