Men’s team down two rubbers again before match starts

The men's team played away to Cooden Beach third team last Sunday, which proved a tough challenge with only one pair available.

Men's captain David Tomsett paired with Dan York had a slow start in their first rubber, trying to come to terms with the slow, damp and thickly laid clay court. Although they lost 6-1, 6-3 our team were pleased the rain held off.

The same cannot be said for the second rubber, as it rained throughout. Pitched against a slightly stronger pair, who both had reliable serves and speedy ground strokes, David and Dan tried different tactics in an effort to break the opposition's rhythm but to no avail as they were defeated by a 6-0, 6-1 scoreline.

This was the men's last match of the winter league and their first match of the summer season is on Sunday 21st April.
