Ladies first team take fourth place in division five of Sussex Winter League

Our ladies first team finished in a pleasing fourth place of eight teams in division five of the Winter Sussex League, losing out on third place by just two points.

In the first half of the season, our ladies won their first two matches 3-1 away to Hampden Park 2 and home to Saltdean 2, before losing 4-0 away to David Lloyd Eastbourne on their indoor carpet.

In the second half, our ladies lost their first match after the Christmas break at home to East Grinstead 1 by 3-1, but won their next match by the same score away to Meads 2.  Another 3-1 loss followed away to Grasshoppers 1 (in Hove) on their newly painted bright blue courts, but in their final match of the season at home to Amherst two, our ladies took the match 4-0 in very windy conditions.

A very good result to finish among the first four teams and maintain their position in division five.

Members who played in the first team were:

Gill Luis-Ravelo, Joanna Chopping, Ros Parker, Jane Hugo, Sarah Keegan, Leesha Daniells and Gemma Bridger.
