The Queen's Award for Voluntary Service

We are thrilled and extremely honoured to receive The Queen's Award for Voluntary Service. Our incredible volunteers truly are the lifeblood of GTC. A massive thank you for your hard work, support and everything you do to help make us more than just a tennis club.

A message from the Chair

Grantham Tennis Club & Gym is delighted to be honoured with The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service 2021. This is the highest award given to volunteer groups and is the equivalent of an MBE.

This prestigious award recognises exceptional work done by volunteer groups in their communities.

The announcement comes as we celebrate the 7th Birthday of our new facilities and very appropriately during National Volunteer Week.

It is a testament to the wealth of people who give their time for our community, our players, our teams and the running of our club – each and every one of these people form the culture of our club and maintain its spirit.

Our volunteers include our committee, our junior committee, maintenance team, our colleagues who go above and beyond their contracted hours, our team captains and many many members of the club who assist and enable our coaches to deliver community programmes.

The community programmes range from wellbeing, Active at 60, Walking Tennis, learning disability, Run Talk Run and many more.

This year, GTC has won LTA regional acclaim for its disability tennis programme and is currently waiting to see if it has won the national award which is announced later this month.

Heartfelt thanks to all of our members, supporters, and especially our volunteers for our award.
