Our Commitment to Adaptive Sport
At John Carrigan Tennis, we believe that great coaching and the joy of racket sports should be accessible to all. As an LTA Coach Education Tutor, I ensure our programs are designed using modern, adaptive methods to cater to various needs, abilities, and experience levels.
We focus on creating a supportive, safe, and engaging environment where every player can find their natural movement solutions and experience continuous improvement.
Your Pathway to Progress
1. Discovery & Entry
Focus: Fun, low-pressure introduction to the fundamentals of tennis and/or pickleball.
Goal: Building basic motor skills, confidence, and comfort on the court. Finding the right equipment and format for you.
2. Skill Development
Focus: Structured weekly coaching to refine technique, improve consistency, and learn tactical foundations.
Goal: Consistent rallying, understanding rules, and preparing for light competition within a supportive environment.
3. Matchplay & Competition
Focus: Match strategy, competitive decision-making, and utilizing the player's full range of adaptive skills.
Goal: Participation in local, county, and regional LTA Inclusive events (where applicable).
We Adapt the Sport for You
Our programs cater to various needs using appropriate equipment and rules, ensuring fair and fun competition.
Adaptive Equipment Use:
- Lower nets and smaller courts (Red/Orange Ball).
- Slower, high-visibility balls.
Disability Categories Supported:
- Learning Disability (LD) Tennis
- Wheelchair Tennis (Adaptation of equipment/rules)
- Deaf and Hearing Impaired Tennis
