A message from our new Chair

Hello! I’m Kirsten and I’m the new Chair of RWBTC 😊

For those of you who don’t know me, I have been a member of the club for 7 years and Women’s Captain for 6 of these.  I play in the league teams and have also been involved in organising Club Championships, numerous social tennis competitions and bringing pickleball to our courts.

As Chair, I am looking forward to working with a fabulous Committee team and expanding on the great work that Paul Meakin has achieved.

Your new Committee looks like this:

Chair – Kirsten Walker

Secretary (Vice-Chair) – Paul Osborne

Treasurer – Alan Butler

Men’s Captain – Shaun Smith

Women’s Captain – Kirsten Walker

Match Secretary – Anna Ritchie-Green

Membership Secretary – Amanda Sykes

Social Secretary – Liz Osborne

Marketing & External Liaison – Susie Bishop

Head Coach – Ali Ward

Welfare Officer – Mary Litchfield

Additional members – Tracy Fieldsend & Jeff Staton

Our objectives for 2025 include:

  • Introducing a new adult club clothing range – keep a look out for more information
  • Expand our daytime court timetable
  • Enhance our pickleball offering
  • Improve our courtside facilities
  • Promote a full social event calendar
  • Introduce a Mixed Team Practice evening – this is starting next Thursday!

I am also excited to announce some dates for your diaries:

1st April: Start of the new membership season – don’t delay in making those renewals!

26th April:  Play Your Way to Wimbledon (club round) – Junior events (accepting entries now)

3rd May: Play Your Way to Wimbledon (club round) – Women’s Doubles (accepting entries now)

29th June: Club Championships – Men’s & Women’s Singles

6th July: Club Championships - Men’s & Women’s Doubles

12th July: Club Championships – Juniors (am)

12th July: Club Championships – Mixed Doubles (pm) followed by Summer BBQ

10th October: End of Season Do

There is lots happening during 2025 so keep an eye out for the Community Whatsapp announcements and other notices around the club.

I, and the rest of the committee, are often found at the courts; so please do feel free to have a chat or drop any of us a message if you have any ideas for the club or would like to get involved in some way.

The 3Ts Sundays have got off to a fantastic start this year – getting members together to support the club, catching up over a warm drink and tasty treats and then having a hit of a tennis or waffle ball! No better way to start a Sunday! Why not join us for the next one on 6th April at 09:30?

Life is better with a racket in your hand – see you on court soon

Kirsten
