We have been enjoying some lovely spring tennis days over the last couple of months which has made us impatient for summer!
Work has gone on to prepare the courts for the summer season, with courts being treated for moss and windbreaks being put up. We still have more to do, so any support is gratefully received.
The extension to the cabin was completed and has already proven a very useful addition when used for the catering for the Easter Open event. The number of entries were significantly less than expected which affected the numbers of customers. However, Paul and his team made over £700 in profit. Great work thank you.
Another project led to completion by Amanda this month is our fabulous accessibility shelter. This was mostly funded by a grant and will provide a perfect shelter for our wheelchair and junior players.
We have implemented the new style members evenings on Wednesday and Friday evenings. Skills & Drills on a Wednesday and the Friday night Mixer. Attendance has been mixed with over 20 players attending some evenings and only 4 on others. Unfortunately, this has proven to be an unsustainable model so from 1st May, committee members will only continue to regularly support the Wednesday sessions.
Our Swindon & District League teams have got off to a positive start in their matches and we will continue to wish them success over the coming months. We have also entered a team into a new Swindon Pickleball League that will run for 6-weeks through August and September. This is the club’s first step into competitive pickleball and we wish the team a fun and positive first season.
Thanks to everyone as always for your support and commitment in running this club.
