All members of our club have access to the following activities. We hope there is something here for everyone but we are open to suggestions!
Club Night and Weekend Club Session - Come along to join in and play friendly but competitive doubles with a range of players. Go to the Club Sessions sub page to book a place to mix and improve your play in a game situation. Every Tuesday 8-10pm and every Sunday 10am-12noon on the indoor courts at Writhlington Tennis Centre.
Daytime club session on Fridays from 11am - 1pm come and join in or email info@somervalleytennis.org.uk its for 'Rusty Racketeers'!!
We have a WhatsApp group for the club sessions, contact the Membership Secretary to get yourself involved!
Box Leagues - Mens & Ladies Box Leagues run through the Autumn and Winter months fortnightly on Friday evenings. These consist of two hours of competitive tennis with results recorded. Will you go up or down a box at the end of the night?!
Avon Leagues - We enter teams in the Summer Leagues (Mens and Womens), Late Summer Leagues (Mixed and Men's Vets) and Winter Leagues (Mixed). These combined, offer opportunities for Mens, Ladies, Mixed, and Vets tennis!
Squad Nights - Practice nights for Men and Ladies league players. Opportunities to practice match tactics, improve your doubles play and perhaps find your tennis partner! - see the calendar page
Closed Club Championships -This takes place in the Autumn. Our annual Championships with singles and doubles competitions for men, ladies, mixed pairings and mixed vets pairs culminate in our finals day and club social.
Social Events - Fun evenings of social tennis to mark occasions such as Christmas, Halloween, Australian Open etc. Generally include the wearing of a silly hat or shirt colour, sometimes food and drink and not taking your tennis too seriously. And occasionally some events without tennis!
Free Advantage Membership and Wimbledon Ballot entry - All club members are eligible for free Advantage membership. With this club members can upgrade their LTA membership which enables you to opt-in via the LTA to take part in the Wimbledon Ticket ballots.
