Tennis Ball Machine

We are pleased to announce that the club now has a tennis ball machine for all members to use once the courts re-open again on March 29. One of our members, who does not wish to be named, has kindly donated a new Spinshot Player hi-spin machine, which is suitable for players of all abilities.

Tennis to start again from March 29

Tennis will start up again from 29 March after the Government published its roadmap for the easing of lockdown restrictions. This will mean that the courts will be open from this date and recreational tennis will be able to take place once more, including singles and doubles, subject to the rule of six.

Lockdown: Courts closed again

We are regrettably having to close Southwell Lawn Tennis Club courts once again after the announcement of a new national lockdown. This means that members cannot use the courts under any circumstances and all coaching, competition and social sessions will have to stop with immediate effect.

We are starting a new Thursday evening social session from 6pm-8pm following a number of requests from members. The sessions will start with immediate effect. We have also launched a short survey for you to provide feedback on our current social sessions so that we can try and make our great club even better.

Covid Tier 3 update

Update from the LTA on the restrictions that are in force for tennis for clubs in Tier 3. The LTA have now received clarification from the government that the four counties in the East Midlands Tier 3 are to be treated as separate Tier 3 areas in their own right. As such, players should avoid travel out of their home county.

Courts to re-open from Dec 2

We are pleased to announce that tennis will be allowed once again from Wednesday December 2. However, as Nottinghamshire is in Tier 3, we will need to adhere to some additional restrictions to make sure that members stay safe. The LTA has summarised the restrictions in a useful table.
