We held the inaugural STC Junior Doubles tournament on Sunday. With 12 capable participants, it made for a packed afternoon of well matched doubles matches.
Using an (almost) American scoring system, the players each had three timed matches, with a different partner for each match.
The match of the day must surely have been the 5-3 win that Jonathan and Olivia recorded in their last match - with Olivia having just come up to the ranks of Juniors, having been playing mini-green last year. A great performance!
Winners trophies were presented by Ralph Clarke to Lloyd Durno, Will Stanier, Maisy Shand and Annabel Dallas.
I think this one will become a regular fixture in our club tennis calendar - it gives the Juniors a chance to compete in a fun and social atmosphere, without the pressure that can sometimes come with playing singles matches. If your kids missed out this year, stick it in the diary for 2018 - the date is already set for Sunday 2nd September.
