Training for disability coaching

Bright Ideas for Tennis spent Friday morning of 16th February to introduce disability tennis to STC.  Danny and Stuart from the charity introduced club volunteers to the breadth and delicacy of playing techniques to enable the disabled to enjoy tennis.

It's clear from the training that disabilities extend beyond wheelchair tennis.  Simple techniques, such as balls with bells, enable many more disadvantaged people to enjoy the game - including the visually impaired or indeed the blind.

Charity volunteer Stuart told Smash "Every tennis club provides an opportunity for local adults and children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) to play tennis.  These people normally don't get the opportunity to play. We would like every club to take part."

Tennis for the disabled begins in April - thanks to our Head Coach Felix for making this happen in Stamford!
