Terms of use

These Terms of Use apply to tennis court bookings being made at Vivary Park and Taunton Green in Taunton. If you breach any of our guidance or terms, Somerset Council and/or Taunton Town Council reserve the right to cancel any memberships, packages and bookings without refund.

Somerset Council and/or Taunton Town Council reserve the right to make any changes to these Terms of Use at any time.

 

Bookings

  • You must book a court online before you play.
  • You can only play on the tennis court which you have booked. A sign is located at the court which indicates which court is court 1 and which is court 2.
  • Your court booking does not include rackets or balls. Please bring these with you.
  • Payment for the annual household membership and any court bookings must be made through the ClubSpark online payment system.
  • When you book a court, you will receive a 6-digit PIN code via email that will allow you access to the courts via the main access gate. The code will be at the end of your email. Please note there will be a 2-minute delay between the booking being processed and an email arriving with the customer PIN Code.
  • All users are advised to bring evidence of booking confirmation with them (e.g. email confirmation) when they play to resolve any confusion over who has booked the courts at that time.
  • Players are to cancel any unwanted court bookings as early as possible. You will receive an automatic refund if you cancel a minimum of 24 hours in advance of your session, otherwise a refund will only be given at our discretion. Refunds will only be given in exceptional circumstances and will not be given in the event of bad weather or adverse playing conditions.
  • Within the first 12 months of the courts being refurbished, Somerset Council and/or Taunton Town Council reserve the right to close the tennis courts in high temperatures and cancel any bookings. This is to preserve the quality of the court surface.
  • Somerset Council and/or Taunton Town Council reserve the right to pre-book the courts for coaching, events and maintenance.
  • Somerset Council and/or Taunton Town Council reserve the right to close the courts and cancel bookings at their discretion. Examples of when the courts could be closed include while maintenance takes place or if the courts are unsafe for use. Should any cancellations occur, advance notice will be given where at all possible via an email sent to the person who booked the courts.
  • Somerset Council and/or Taunton Town Council reserve the right to provide times where the courts can be booked at no cost. Bookings must still be made via the ClubSpark online booking system.

 

Annual Household Membership overview

  • The Tennis in the Park Taunton annual household membership is charged at £36 per year, per household.
  • The annual household membership runs for 1 year from the date of purchase.
  • The membership covers up to 8 people within the same household.
  • The membership can be used for a maximum of 6 hours of tennis per week and a maximum of 2 consecutive hours of tennis.
  • Annual household season tickets will not be part refunded for any reason.
  • Court bookings can be made up to 14 days in advance for annual household membership players.

 

Pay and Play overview

  • Pay and Play is charged at £6.00 per hour, per court.
  • Pay to Play players can book a maximum of 5 hours of tennis per week and a maximum of 2 consecutive hours of tennis.
  • Court bookings can be made up to 10 days in advance for Pay and Play players.

 

Court rules

  • Players should read, understand and abide by the court’s rules.
  • Players should comply with the principles of Respect and Fair Play, both on and off the courts.
  • Players should wear appropriate sports clothing and footwear when on court.
  • No sports other than tennis are to be played on the courts.
  • No dogs allowed on the courts.
  • No playing of music is allowed on the tennis courts.
  • Smoking is not permitted within the court boundaries (including e-cigarettes).
  • The use of chewing gum is not permitted on the courts.
  • Do not leave any belongings on the court. Take off the court everything you take on – including all balls and general litter.
  • Players play tennis at their own risk and are asked to apply common sense in always looking out for themselves and other players.
  • Ensure you close the court gate properly when you enter and leave. Do not let anyone who is not playing with you through the gate, they should instead use their own access code to gain entry.
  • No person may coach others for financial gain on any court without prior approval of Somerset Council (Vivary Park tennis courts) or Taunton Town Council (Taunton Green tennis courts).
  • Please report any damage to parktennis@somerset.gov.uk.

 

Right to play

  • You must book a court online before playing, please bring booking confirmation with you. It is your responsibility to look after your PIN code to access the court.
  • If someone is playing on the court when you arrive use your booking confirmation as proof or use another court if available.
  • In the event of a dispute over who has booked the court, the person whose name appears on the booking sheet will take precedence.

 

Safe to Play guidance

  • Players use any of the Park Tennis courts at their own risk.
  • Check the weather forecast before booking.
  • Courts' playability is subject to weather conditions.

 

Your privacy

  • Data you input into the website will be processed by both Somerset Council and Taunton Town Council. The respective privacy policies can be found at the following websites:
