Vivary Park

Hire a tennis court in Taunton's stunning Vivary Park. There are 2 high quality tennis courts available to hire. 

Vivary Park is close to Taunton town centre and covers 7.5 hectares of park land. In medieval times the site was the fish farm or vivarium for the priory and castle. There are no visible remains of the lakes now, but this ancient use lives on in the park’s name ‘Vivary’.

The park is well used and is maintained by Somerset Council staff with great support and help from the Friends of Vivary Park. The volunteers do a great job in supporting the day to day work, special events and annual favourites.

Grab your racket and enjoy a game on our newly resurfaced courts. Nearby there is access to a cafe and public toilets with disabled facilities. If you're looking to make a day of it, why not visit Vivary Adventure and High Ropes Centre, pay a round of golf or mini golf, take the kids to the large adventure play area or wander into the town for some shopping.

The park closes at dusk every day.

How to get here

The main entrance to Vivary Park is via Upper High Street, the southern entrance via Mount Street and the western entrance is by way of the wooden bridge from Wilton Lands. The tennis courts are closest to the southern entrance, next to the childrens adventure play area.

Public car parks nearby are at Fons George, Ash Meadows and Orchard multi storey.

Booking

These courts are operated by Somerset Council and are managed by a booking and gate access system. The courts can either be booked for 1 hour for £6 or you can purchase an annual household membership for £36 which will allow anyone in your household to book for the courts for a whole year at no additional cost. The annual household membership will also give you access to two high quality tennis courts at Taunton Green on Cheddon Road, which are owned by Taunton Town Council.
